Our imaging equipment, like the CT Scan, is used for viewing head and body structures, allowing early detection of possible disorders and avoiding costly and discomforting exploratory surgery. Our Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) testing is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools available to physicians. The MRI produces brilliant diagnostic images without use of radiation, providing physicians with detailed images of the brain, spinal cord, joints, soft tissue, and the body’s vascular system. Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and other specialized equipment are also available.
Board certified radiologists who are specifically trained to interpret diagnostic images staff Wallace Thomson Hospital’s Radiology Department. The technical staff consists of licensed technologists who assist the physicians with these procedures.
The Mammotome Breast Biopsy Procedure
Wallace Thomson Hospital is among many leading institutions throughout the upstate offering Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, as an alternative to a general surgical biopsy. The Mammotome is highly accurate in helping our physicians diagnose a variety of breast abnormalities, from those you can feel to those you cannot feel. The outpatient procedure is performed in less than an hour, requires no stitches, and allows women to return to their normal routine immediately afterwards with only a small incision. |
