Hughie Elliott Joins Wallace Thomson Hospital as Director of Clinical/Biomedical Engineering
Wallace Thomson Hospital recently welcomed Hughie Elliott as Director of Clinical/Biomedical Engineering. Elliott began his new position on June 4th.

As Director of Clinical/Biomedical Engineering, Elliott is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all clinical and biomedical equipment at Wallace Thomson Hospital. He is employed by Aramark, which manages the hospital’s plant operations and environmental services, and has six years of experience in biomedical engineering.

“The best thing about my job is the feeling of completion when a repair is made or a problem is resolved,” Elliott said. “I love the variety in being able to help throughout the hospital. For example, I may be working on a defibrillator in the morning, a centrifuge at lunch, and an X-ray room in the evening.”

Elliott comes to Union from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he received training in the repair of radiology equipment. He has completed a two-year certificate in Industrial Mechanics, an Associates degree in Electronics Engineering with computer applications, and an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering with industrial applications. He has also completed Levels I and II at Ditec in X-ray Safety and Fundamentals, and is scheduled to complete Level III this year.

“I am excited about meeting new people and building new relationships at Wallace Thomson Hospital and in the community,” Elliott said. “Most of all, I am committed to maintaining the medical equipment at Wallace Thomson Hospital to the best of my ability. I have high standards for my work, and always repair each piece of equipment as if it were going to be used on my son or daughter.”

Elliott, who is originally from Spartanburg, is an avid musician and lived in Nashville for five years. He and his wife Michelle have been married 16 years and have two children, Makayla and Jacob.
